Salted Maple Pecan Coffee

I have been dreaming of blending Salted Maple Pecan Butter with coffee from the very first spoonful of salty-sweet, nutty goodness I sampled fresh out of the blender a few weeks ago.

So, I did what any latte loving lady would do, and made that dream a reality.

Salted Maple Pecan Coffee

It’s hard for me to believe that there was a time in my life when I ordered a drink through a drive through window twice a day, every day. That time is also known as high school, and it weighs heavily on my soul.

Why?

PLASTIC. Did you know that every day, Americans throw away 500 million straws?

It’s true.

FIVE HUNDRED MILLION. That’s enough to line up and wrap around the earth two and a half times.

Every damn day.

And we’re just talking about straws.

Now imagine the cups, lids, etc that go into fulfilling a person’s daily drive-through habit. That’s a whole heck of a lot of waste, just in the name of drinking a beverage on the go. Much of it is bulging in our ever-overflowing landfills, and the rest? Well, it’s floating in the oceans, suffocating our seas. Don’t even get me started on plastic bags, bottles, or packaging.

I’m not here to point fingers, or to claim I am not part of the problem, I’m just here to say: there’s another way.

When it comes to straws, you can just skip them altogether, or opt for a more eco-friendly choice like bio-degradable paper straws, or just buy reusable glass or stainless steel ones instead. I know it seems like such a tiny thing, but opting to forego a straw once a day can make a huge impact on the amount of plastic that ends up in the seas.

When it comes to the actual cup, I almost always keep a 16-oz wide mouth mason jar in my bag or in the car in case I’m out and want to buy a drink, and love these insulated travel mugs for taking hot or cold drinks on the go.

And, more often than not, I just make my own drinks at home. Like this Salted Maple Pecan Coffee, which is my current favorite way to ease into the mornings.

The process is ridiculously simple: brew coffee, add to blender with a spoonful of Salted Maple Pecan Butter, and blend for a few seconds, or until it resembles a creamy, frothy latte.

If you haven’t already made a batch of my Salted Maple Pecan Butter, you can add this creamy, dreamy coffee to the list of reasons to keep it stocked in your pantry at all times. Eating it off the spoon, over yogurt, ice cream, and oatmeal, or spread on toast are all wise choices, too.

And, if you’re someone who usually goes through several plastic straws, cups, lids, etc, a day like I once did, it’s okay. I still love you. But now’s the time to make a change! You can do it, I promise.

I think you’re going to love this fun twist on the usual coffee. It’s:

and so delicious.

  1. i did hazelnut butter in my coffee once, and it was kind of weird. ack. but i just stirred it in, instead of whizzing it up, so maybe that would help?! and ugh, there’s so much packaging everywhere. i’m trying to wash anything i can and save them to re-use for later (esp big plastic containers, which are awesome when i’m giving food to someone and don’t want to deal with getting the container back!).

    1. I think blending makes a huge difference!! And I’m with you on the packaging- I try to save/reuse, and eventually recycle everything I can. And, whenever possible, I just try not to buy something if it’s excessively packaged. Not always possible, but I try!
