Well, friends, this is it.
My pantry is officially out of flour.
I’ve been able to purchase two bags of flour in the past six weeks, and, in hindsight, perhaps I should have bought more when I found it on the shelves of my local stores, but I was trying to be considerate of my neighbors who might also need those bags of flour.
This is what I get for being a good person.
As my stockpile has diminished, I’ve slowly started rationing how much and how often I feed Stanley (my sourdough starter, who obviously has a name and is a member of the family at this point), and have been looking to flourless recipes to fill the growing void in my life that was once filled by creating fun things in the kitchen.
If you, like me, find yourself out of flour, or are wisely starting to use less so you don’t run out anytime soon, I hope you find the list below of use. I’ve compiled 10 of my favorite things to make when I’m out of flour- many of which require zero flour of any kind, a few of which require a starch like arrowroot (cornstarch works well instead), or a flour like oat (which you can make yourself out of rolled oats, if you have them).
I hope this post finds you fully stocked with flour, but if it doesn’t, rest assured that delicious treats are in your future, regardless of your flour status.
