It’s apple season! We just went apple picking over the weekend and stocked up on some of our favorites that are ripe in our region right now: Gala, Red Jonagold, Northern Spy, and Ginger Gold. I’m still patiently waiting for the Golden Russetts, Honeycrisps, Mutsu, and all the other late summer/early fall varieties that I just can’t seem to get enough of.
If you live in New England and are looking to try out some fun heirloom varieties, Scott Farm in Vermont has such a diverse selection of apples and makes for a fun day trip. We went to Quonquont Farm yesterday and will definitely be hitting up a few more local orchards before the season ends!
Since I came home with more apples than two humans and one dog can reasonably be expected to consume before they spoil- and I’m guessing you did too, if you happened to go apple picking this weekend- I figured I’d round up some of my favorite apple recipes to help us both out.
