I seriously could not be more excited for June to be here. Not only is the weather slowly getting warmer and the grocery stores starting to be full of a wider variety of summer produce, but June brings strawberry season in Massachusetts (we’re probably 10-15 days away, depending on the weather!), which is my absolute favorite time of year. My family loads up our cars, heads across the state, and picks as many juicy berries as we possibly can in an afternoon, then everyone goes their separate ways to drive home and freeze their berries to use throughout the coming months.
And, truthfully, we rarely ever buy strawberries from the store throughout the year (they just can’t compare!), so it feels extra special to get to gorge ourselves on warm, juicy, freshly-picked strawberries for a few days each June. I’m notoriously the last person to leave the strawberry field (just. one. more. berry) and almost always leave with a stomach ache from eating so many strawberries (but, like, it’s the best stomach ache ever).
Before I start eating my weight in strawberries every day, I though I’d share some ideas for fun, healthy recipes to make this month. June can be tough because it’s such a transition- from school to vacation mode, from colder temps to warmer ones, from routines and schedules to endless parties, events, and gatherings.
