May Favorites

I see you, May, testing my patience with your colder-than-average temperatures and endless gray rainy days.

Seriously. I have worn a dress exactly once this month, on Memorial Day Weekend (hallelujah!), but have literally been layered up, sipping tea, and shivering the rest of the month. The puppy has been sleeping with an electric blanket under her bed because it’s been COLD at night, and up until a weeks ago when I finally said enough is enough, Kevin was still sneaking off to the living room in the mornings to blast the heat while he got ready for work in the mornings.

In May.

MAY.

The month where we usually spend so much time recharging our proverbial batteries in the sun after a long, cold winter. The month where we never, ever, ever, have the heat on because we’re stubborn New Englander’s and that’s just how it works.

Well, consider me ready for June, because this month has tried it’s darnedest to send me back into hibernation, and I’m SO ready to stop wearing my winter/fall wardrobe.

Despite being grumpy about the weather all month, I’ve also been exceptionally productive (maybe all this extra indoor time has been a good thing?) and have even had time to do crazy things like finish unpacking the boxes in the entryway (yes, we did move six weeks ago, don’t look at me like that) and take on a massive cookbook photography project. If anyone out there wants to come wash my dishes around 5pm every day in exchange for lots of random leftovers, COME ON DOWN.

Okay, here are a few things that got me excited this month. I hope you love them as much as I do.

Califia Farms’ Barista Blend Oat Milk

May Favorites

Specifically in cold brew (since it’s extra concentrated and doesn’t get too watered down by oat milk’s relatively thin consistency) or frothed and poured over matcha. I know I have a recipe for homemade oat milk here (that is literally the only non-slimy homemade oat milk I’ve ever made!), but sometimes laziness kicks in and this barista style oat milk is seriously so perfect. I buy it on Thrive Market, but you can find it on amazon, too! Pro tip: if you own a bamboo matcha whisk, just heat this oat milk on the stove while you make your matcha, then use the whisk right in the pot of milk to get lots of froth; no fancy equipment needed!

This Dainty Circle Necklace

May Favorites

I’ve been wearing this necklace nonstop lately, and seriously get complimented on it every day, both in person and via Instagram message daily. So, here’s the deets on this little beauty: it’s just a tiny sterling silver necklace I bought on Etsy for like…$20? Super cheap. I looked back through my order history and couldn’t find it, but I’m almost positive it’s this one.

Bandanas…for Peanut

May Favorites

Kind of obsessing over how cute Peanut looks in a bandana right now, so I’ve been scouring the thrift shops nearby to find them (surprisingly not so easy to find second-hand bandanas). If anyone out there knows of a good source for handmade and/or organic cotton bandanas, send it my way! If not, I’ve been eyeing this cute pack on Amazon and will likely take the plunge soon because Peanut obviously needs a little pizzaz in her life.

Super Cute Nautical Stripe T-Shirt Dress

May Favorites

Okay, so, I bought it last month and I’ve only worn it once because WEATHER, but this dress is so super soft and comfy and I’m 100% sure I’m going to wear in nonstop this summer. I bought it in a large, just FYI, and love the fit. As always, PACT comes through for the win on fair trade, organic, ultra soft clothing shipped in recycled paper packaging. Small Batch Cookies

Small Batch Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

I’ve been making variations of this recipe all month long, sometimes with half chickpea flour half whole wheat, sometimes with oat flour, sometimes with a little less maple syrup, sometimes without the oats, sometimes with half the coconut oil swapped for almond butter (in that case you don’t need to chill the dough before baking!) and sometimes exactly as written. We love eating cookies warm from the oven (I mean, who doesn’t?!) so this recipe that yields just 4 cookies is perfect for the two of us! Plus, if you’re too full to eat both of them, the leftover cookie is DIVINE the next day when smothered in peanut butter. Just sayin’.

Alright, that’s it! While I’m sure there were more things I loved this month, I was too busy being cold and/or snuggling with Peanut to remember them.

Peace out, May, I am SO ready for June weather.

XO,

Chelsea
