SLOW DOWN, 2019.
January is already over, and I can’t handle it.
This month we headed to San Diego for a long weekend getaway, and it was absolutely what I needed to start 2019 on the right foot. We had so much fun exploring SD and came home feeling like maybe we should have just stayed forever? Ugh, it’s just so perfect there. There are giant, gorgeous succulents in everyone’s lawn instead of the dead shrubs we’ve got going on right now in New England, most days are around 70 and sunny, there are endless beaches and hiking trails, and so many cute breweries, coffee shops, and local businesses that I seriously can’t handle it. I could just explore forever.
Usually, I get sick of being on vacation after three or four days and just want to be home in my own space, but I felt like we could have stayed for weeks without ever missing home.
But, before this turns into a San Diego love fest, let’s talk about all the things that have gotten me excited this month.
I haven’t shared a new Favorites post in a while, since November and December were pretty jam-packed with holiday food and gift recommendations, so I feel like there are SO MANY THINGS that I need to tell you about.
Let’s do this!

Luce Farm’s Hemp-Infused Body Balm
You already know I’m obsessed with everything Luce Farm makes, but this month I’ve really been digging their body balm. It’s this dreamy, cocoa buttery balm that’s infused with their full-spectrum hemp extract so it’s not only super hydrating for your skin, but helps your body heal any spots of pain/inflammation, too. I’ve been loving it on my lips and cheeks after spending a day out in the cold, and it feels amazing on a dry, sore nose after having a cold and blowing your nose so much it’s red and raw. If you’ve been kneading dough all day, or work with your hands, it’s also so soothing on tired, dry hands (or anywhere on your bod that needs a little extra love).
The ROOMBA
Okay, I know I’m late to the whole robot vacuum party, but OMG. I was gifted a Roomba for Christmas and feel like we have a new member of the family…I seriously have an unhealthy level of affection for that little bot. Does it solve all my life’s problems and make it so I no longer need to clean my house? Well, no. But just the fact that I can set it on a schedule to vacuum when I’m out of the house every day means I come home to clean floors every.single.day. And if that’s not a miracle, I don’t know what it. We have one of the more basic models (which is still expensive, but significantly less than the fancier ones) and haven’t found a single issue with it. If you’re someone who makes a mess on a daily basis, this little robot will be a total game changer.
TOM’S Sneakers
This month I treated myself to a new pair of ‘sneaks and I’m so in love. I’ve been wearing + loving TOM’S for years (they’re the original one for one shoe company, where you buy a pair and they donate a pair to a child in need) but I always opted for the flats or low profile sneakers, never for my actual athletic shoes. It was time for an upgrade, and I’m so happy I made the switch because TOM’S delivered, yet again, with comfortable, durable, totally cute looking sneakers that I love wearing out and about, not just at the gym.
Living Raw Chocolate
You know I’m forever searching for the best chocolate companies, and lately I can’t get enough of Living Raw’s chocolate bars. They’re fair trade + organic, made with love by a small family, and have such a rich, robust cacao flavor that I can’t get enough of. Plus, their caramel-filled bars are filled with a maple syrup caramel, made with literally just maple syrup that’s been reduced and whipped into a caramel. It’s seriously the dreamiest chocolate bar, ever. Their milk + dark bars are both full-flavored (aka they all taste pretty ‘dark’), but the milk bar is extra creamy, while the dark is extra bold. If you’re a fan of craft chocolate, you need these little bars of joy in your life.
Brentwood Home’s Non-Toxic Memory Foam Mattress
Clearly January has been an expensive month around here, what with vacations to California, new sneakers, CBD, robot vacuums, and craft chocolate, but I couldn’t help sharing this mattress with you! We’ve been eyeing the Avocado Green Mattress for years, but to be honest, it’s just not in our price range, especially considering we needed to buy a new platform bed frame to go with our new mattress, and didn’t want to spend $5,000 on a new bed. After lots of research into memory foam mattresses, hours reading up on how toxic and nasty most of them really are, and nearly giving up and just buying the expensive one, we came across the Brentwood Home Cypres Mattress, and can’t get over how great it is! I love that it’s madewith CertiPUR-US foams free of flame retardants, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates (none of which you want to be breathing in every night for the rest of your life!!), and it’s actually super affordable for a memory foam bed (like, around $500). If you’re looking to upgrade and want a less toxic option, we’re literally sleeping like babies over here on the Brentwood Home mattress.
Organic Cotton Undies
Yup, we’re going there. I wore these fair trade + organic cotton undies alllll over San Diego, loved them for my airplane ride (there’s seriously nothing worse than uncomfortable underwear when you’re stuck sitting for 6 hours) and have been slowly transitioning over my entire underwear drawer as they go on sale. And, I’m just going to say it: non-organic cotton underwear (or any other material you may purchase) is putting a whooole lot of chemicals up close and personal with your most sensitive lady bits (tampons, too, if you haven’t though about it before!), and I feel so much more comfortable wearing organic cotton than anything else! You can buy them on Amazon or if you want to go straight to Pact’s site, you can save 20% off your first purchase there with this link (we seriously love all their products…leggings, tanks, tees, etc!!)
That’s all for today!
This month my brain has definitely been on vacation mode, so I’m happy to finally get back into my normal routine and usual life stuff. I hope you’re all enjoying the last few days of January; see you next month for my February Favorites!
