HELLO, JULY!
There’s still part of my brain that’s attempting to process March, so it feels very bizarre that we’re just days away from 4th of July Weekend. Though, given the number of fireworks that have gone off in our neighborhood for the past 2 months straight, it also feels like the 4th of July has already happened. I would expect nothing less of this crazy year we’re in.
This month I got my first sunburn (but, like, it was 94x less intense than every other first sunburn of previous summers so maybe there is some wisdom coming with age, you know?), went for my first swim of the year, formed a daily ‘cool off those toe beans’ habit where we take Peanut out for an afternoon dip in the salt marsh to, well, cool off her toe beans, and generally have been soaking in the warm weather after the world’s longest, cold, wet, gloomy spring.
Here are this month’s favorites…enjoy!
COPINA CO. MATCHA
wow wow wow ok as if I didn’t already love matcha enough, Carolyn of Copina Co. went and made THE best skincare-boosting matcha blend. It’s full of plant-based collagen boosters and high quality Japanese matcha, plus it makes such tasty iced lattes. I’ve been adding it to smoothies lately, too, and love the tiny bit of sweetness and fun matcha flavor it adds to a frozen banana-mango-spinach smoothie situation. Code: BAKEDGREENS10 will save you 10% off your orders at copinaco.com if want in on the matcha action
THE WOODZIE
A former coworker’s husband is an incredible woodworker- I’ve been admiring his work for YEARS and cannot say enough good things about this small, family-run, handcrafted business. And the woodzie? It’s legit the best/most stylish (plastic-free!!) drink koozie, ever. Like, I might need to buy one for everyone I know because they’re just too perfect. They have the prettiest designs (and even custom engrave them if you want something unique for your business/brand/self). Use the code: FAVORITETHING for 20% off anything on betterwheelvt.com through the entire month of July.
TINTED MOISTURIZER WITH SPF
This month I discovered Raw Elements’ tinted facial moisturizer and have been loving it for my morning walks with Peanut. It goes on SO smoothly, really only adds the teeniest bit of tint, and doesn’t feel heavy on my face at all. I also really love that it’s in a reusable metal tin instead of the traditional plastic squeeze tube, and after nearly an entire month of use, I’ve barely made a dent in the container, so it should last all summer!
LOCAL STRAWBERRIES
I always always always look forward to June because it’s strawberry season here in Massachusetts, but this year felt like it was one of the best strawberry crops we’ve experienced in ages. The berries were all so perfectly plump and juicy, the weather was relatively cool in the mornings so we weren’t dying while out picking, and unlike most years, we found ourselves eating most of the berries before we could even consider freezing them. Fun fact: since our berry seasons are so short here in New England, we pick as many local/organic berries as we can all summer and freeze them for pies, smoothies, and baking with all winter long. If you’re in Massachusetts, Atlas Farm is our favorite (for most things, but also specifically strawberries!) and miiiight have a few days left of picking if the weather cooperates, so get out there while you still can!
RAINBOW LULUBIRD MUG
The Lulubird’s cloud mug was one of the first handmade ceramic mugs I bought years ago, and sadly it didn’t make it in our last move (I swaddled it like a baby in the moving box but alas, gravity took it from me) and I’ve been on the lookout for a replacement ever since. Spoiler alert: I think I love the rainbow mug EVEN MORE than the one it was purchased to replace. The shape/size is just perfect, I love the handle size and placement, and the rainbow just makes me happy every time I see it. Sad news: it’s sold out on her Etsy shop, but I have my eye on the teal mountain mug and resist mug, and I think she’ll make you a custom mug if you message her!!
That’s it! I hope you’re all enjoying these first days of summer!
XO,
Chelsea
