This month started out with the only two big snow storms we had all winter, dropping almost two feet of snow on us in the course of a week, and ended with sunny days in the 50s. Spring, I see you, you sneaky season.
I’ve been working hard to spend less time on social media this month (like, pretty much only when I post and otherwise the phone is DOWN) because my eyes and my neck and my mental health need a little break. It felt so good to not really care at all what was going on on Instagram, to just post recipes to my site and not stress out about how many likes a particular photo got. Instead, I opted to lean in to photography and recipe development, and to actually be done working by 5:30 every day, as opposed to the typical self-employed schedule of working from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep.
Also helpful in that quest was to change my blogging schedule from every other day to only posting Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. A few years ago the MWF post schedule was stress-inducing for me, but now it feels like a breath of fresh air after posting every other day for nearly a year. The new schedule means I’m not doing any last minute work on blog posts over the weekend, and it also means I can just stay off my computer/phone all weekend long unless there’s something I WANT to do (like order more chocolate from Thrive Market, duh).
So, before March slips away, here are some of the things that got me excited this month, ones that I haven’t really raved about on social media yet since, you know, I wasn’t there much. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Who Gives a Crap Toilet Paper
100% recylced paper OR sustainable bamboo toilet paper that is super soft, packaged without plastic, and get shipped straight to your door every few months (or however often you select) is a GAME CHANGER. Toilet paper was one of the few products I struggled to find in a truly eco-friendly, plastic-free, affordable option for. I would literally gift someone a subscription to this toilet paper…it’s that good!
Thrive Market’s New Cashew Butter filled Dark Chocolate Bar
Actually, nevermind, pretend I didn’t say anything because this is legit the best cashew butter filled bar I’ve tried and I just know it’s going to sell out on Thrive Market any day now. So do me a favor and don’t order any, alright? I can’t live without this chocolate in my life. But…if you really want to, you could use this link to get 25% off your first purchase on thrive market. They’re the best.
Creamy Red Beans and Rice
I think I ate this for lunch at least 15 times this month. Not mad about it. Might make another batch on Sunday to eat throughout the week. It literally takes 20 minutes to make and is such a hearty, filling meal to have on hand.
Tinted Face Oil from Kosas
I’m not a big make-up person, and rarely wear anything more than a little mascara, but lately I’ve been wanting to have something in my (pretty much empty) make-up bag that I could pull out on special occasions and feel good about using on my skin. Kosas uses quality, non-toxic ingredients in all of their products and designs them for people who are active…which I love! I have the tinted face oil in #2 and a few of the sport lip balm sticks. It’s not remotely heavy and just adds a little touch of complexion-evening color in my life, which is a fun option to have sometimes. If you’ve been looking for an all-natural makeup company, I highly recommend Kosas!
Afternoon Tea
I go through phases with tea, and this month I’ve loved making a cup to have in the afternoons while I finish up work on my computer. This milky tea with black pepper & honey has been a favorite, but I’m always down for a good old cup of herbal tea, too!
That’s it! I hope your March was filled with lots of sunshine, plenty of chocolate (always) and that you’re ready to take on April. I know I am!
