SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!!
But, before we dive headfirst into all things Summer, let’s take a look at what my girl Peanut was up to this Spring.
Spoiler alert: mostly stuck at home, because COVID. But also, outside every possible second, because also COVID.
Peanut was happy she got to stay in bed late every morning this spring, never had to miss anyone while they were gone at work, and got extra snuggle time on the couch every day. She even learned a few new tricks like ‘weave’ (where she weaves between our legs) and ‘up’ (where she stands up on her back legs) and confirmed that, if you aren’t holding her face, she isn’t interested in sleeping in the car. She spent prettymuch every sunny day outside in the woods hiking and/or chilling with her neighborhood cat friend outside, and even got to have a sleepover with her favorite 5-year-old human.
She was not, however, particularly thrilled to still be wearing her winter jacket in April, as the days were still unseasonably cold, wet, and generally miserable outside. She also got the the point where she was so starved for attention (as dog parks were closed and we weren’t having any social gatherings) that she would literally just lay down and refuse to move whenever we’d come across a friendly looking person on our walks. The girl needs her belly rubs, and she just couldn’t understand why, despite her tail wagging and general cuteness that usually gets everyone’s attention, no one was stopping to say hello to her.
Just last week she made friends with a lost dog (who has since found his family), and it has gotten so hot outside that she’s taken to running and sliding face-first, baseball-player-making-a-homerun-style, into the fluffiest patch of grass she can find when she just.can’t.take.the.heat and then laying there for as long as I possibly let her.
So today, on the second day of Summer, I present to you: Peanut in Spring. May her cuteness bring you even a fraction of the joy it brings me on a daily basis.
