Golden Gingerbread Latte + DIY Spice Blend
Chelsea Colbath
A creamy, frothy, generously spiced golden gingerbead latte recipe plus a DIY spice blend mixture that yields enough for 15 lattes. Make a big batch to give as gifts with latte instructions!
spice blend
- 3 Tablespoons turmeric
- 2 Tablespoons ginger
- 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 Tablespoon cardamom
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
to make each latte
- 1/2 Tablespoon Golden Gingerbread Spice Blend
- 8 oz milk
- 1 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup more or less, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon molasses
Put all spices in a small jar, seal the lid, and shake well to combine.
To make a latte: warm milk in a small pot on the stove until hot, but not boiling. Alternately, this can be done in a mug in the microwave for about 60 seconds.
Pour hot milk, spice blend, honey, and molasses into a blender and blend for 10-15 seconds, or until combined and frothy. This could also be done directly in the pot with a whisk or a hand-held milk frother! Pour into a mug and enjoy immediately.
The spice mix above yields enough to make 15 lattes and fills a half pint mason jar about halfway full. Feel free to double, tie a ribbon on it, write instructions for making a latte, and give as a gift!
To make this a more traditional latte: add a shot of espresso!
